The Ethernet Extender is ideal for users or service providers who need high-speed dedicated network connections. Based on the ITU and ETSI G.SHDSL G.991.2 standard, the LB510A-R3 enables providers to extend their reach-and-range by delivering rate-adaptive nx64 symmetrical speeds up to 15.3 Mbps over a single pair of wires. If you need even more bandwidth, the LB510A-R3 can bond as many as two pairs (4 wires) for up to 30 Mbps.
The extender/NTU works in a pair communicating across dry, two-wire copper cable of any gauge from 19 AWG (0.9 mm) to 26 AWG (0.4 mm). You may even be able to use the telephone wiring already connecting offices or buildings in your application.
Using the DIP switch on the extender/NTU or a Telnet connection, you can set its rate in 64-kbps increments to provide a precise amount of bandwidth to users and to get either greater speed or greater distance. The extender/NTU uses Trellis-Coded Pulse Amplitude Modulation (TCPAM) to enhance its performance and support distances twice as far as conventional TDM technologies.
The G.SHDSL Two-Wire Extender/NTU also includes a probe to determine the optimum data rate supported by the link between local and remote units. In addition, an error monitor inspects the line for intervals that exceed its user-set error threshold and, if necessary, restarts the link automatically.
For easy troubleshooting, the extender/NTU features front-panel LEDs and other diagnostic tools for detecting errors on the two-wire connection. The 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX G.SHDSL Two-Wire Extender/NTU features four RJ-45 connectors, autosenses 10- or 100-Mbps network links, autonegotiates for full- or half-duplex operation, and delivers bridged-Ethernet connections to distant users.
You can extend corporate LAN-to-WAN communications at higher speeds or at a longer distance. This device is used in pairs for near-end, far-end deployments. Typical applications include Enterprise LAN extension, campus LAN expansion. The 4 port 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet Extender uses G-SHDSL technology to provide an easy, inexpensive way to extend the reach of your Ethernet network over ordinary voice-grade copper wire.
Actual distance and link performance may vary depending on the environment and gauge and type of wire you use.
