The Patton Electronics’ CopperLink CL1101E/IP67 Power over Ethernet (PoE) extenders supply power and data from a Fast Ethernet connection across an existing twisted pair(s) or coax cable run. The industrial-rated CL1101E/IP67 enables Ethernet connectivity over previously installed 2-wire 24-AWG twisted-pair, Cat 3, Cat 5e/6/7, or coaxial cables. The solution extends the life of legacy circuits put in for traditional non-IP applications like RS-232 and RS-485 controls, alarms, CCTV, analog phones, and intercom speakers. A CL1101/IP67 paired with Local extender can quickly connect wireless access points (WAPs), IP cameras, IP telephones, access control devices, LED lighting, and other powered devices (PD) without additional overhead costs. The weatherproof enclosure with cable glands, allows PD equipment to be placed in outdoor settings.
The CL1101E/IP67 may be configured as a Local and Remote unit. Each type needs to be placed at each end of a cable run. The Local model is typically located near the network hub to accept Ethernet and is powered by an AC to DC power adapter. The Remote unit is remotely located on the network edge. It accepts power from the Line interface. A line interface, with choice of RJ45, BNC, or terminal block connections, spans up to 3,300 feet between the Local and Remote units.
A CL1100E pair includes Transparent LAN Bridging which passes higher layer industrial protocols such as tagged and untagged 802.1Q VLAN packets, BACnetIP, EtherCAT, and Modbus TCP. The bridge is also fully transparent to WMV, MPEG-4, and MJPEG video compression schemes. PoE PowerPlus technology delivers power to the remote CopperLink extender and PD connected to it. No external power source is required at the remote location.
