The Ericsson Cradlepoint MC20BT Bluetooth module and antenna adds Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity to the Ericsson Cradlepoint E300 and E3000 branch routers and operates a part of a secure, cloud-managed network. It may be used to gain location insights, monitor foot traffic, targeted guest engagement with proximity marketing, optimizing operational efficiency at the branch location. Of course, it can collect data from BLE-based IoT sensors.
The Ericsson Cradlepoint MC20BT is compatible with NetCloud and provides edge-to-cloud connectivity. It can deliver telemetry data from Bluetooth sensors to the IoT applications located in the cloud or a data center. NetCloud management offers BLE mode configuration, analytics, and connectors to AWS IoT Greengrass, Microsoft Azure IoT Central, and MQTT servers.
The MC20BT operates in several modes. When set up in Gateway mode, it gathers data from Bluetooth temperature, motion, and vibration sensors, monitoring food safety, foot traffic, or environmental conditions. This mode also works with BLE-enabled medical instruments to help track patient data from a remote location. The Ericsson Cradlepoint MC20BT may be configured to bridge LAN clients and transmit sensor data from the router to cloud services. When bridge mode is disabled, the information is captured locally on the router for retrieval. The MC20BT may function in Beacon mode used for proximity marketing or customer engagement activities. When the module sends periodic beacon advertisements, Bluetooth-enabled devices with the correct privacy settings and within range, it will detect the beacon and trigger a marketing platform to send a welcome message or coupon to the guest’s device. The MC20BT supports iBeacon, EddyStone, and AltBeacon.
