Patton Electronics’ Copperlink CL1101 family of Power over Ethernet (PoE) extenders provide data communication and power from a Fast Ethernet connection across exiting twisted pair(s) or coax cable runs. The CL1101 enables Ethernet connectivity over previously installed copper cables such as 2-wire 24-AWG twisted-pair, Cat 3, Cat 5e/6/7, or coaxial. The solution breathes new life into circuits deployed for legacy non-IP applications like RS-232/422/485 controls, alarms, CCTV, analog phones, and intercom speakers. Once a CL1101 pair of extenders are installed, you can quickly connect remote wireless access points (WAPs), IP cameras, IP telephones, IP door stations, HVAC controls, LED lighting, and other powered devices (PD) devices with no additional overhead cost. With an extended reach up to 3,300 feet, the CL1101 kit allows you to locate IP terminal equipment where you need it.
The CL1101 requires a Local and Remote unit at each end of a cable run. The Local model is typically located near the central network and powered by an AC to DC power adapter. The Remote unit is usually located on the network edge away from other devices. It may be powered from the PoE line. The pair includes Transparent LAN Bridging which passes higher layer industrial protocols such as tagged and untagged 802.1Q VLAN packets, BACnetIP, EtherCAT, and Modbus TCP. The bridge is fully transparent to WMV, MPEG-4, and MJPEG video compression schemes. PoE PowerPlus technology delivers power to the remote CopperLink extender and PDs connected to it. No power is required at the remote location.
