How do you overcome the challenges of building an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) network? The traffic management alone is intense. You need tools that can handle variable inputs and outputs across long ranges and an array of devices. On top of that, it all must operate on low power consumption. Meeting those needs is difficult, but meeting them affordably is even harder. Throw in the often-brutal environmental conditions, and you’re looking at extremely specialized hardware. Thankfully, Axiomtek enjoys a challenge, and they built the IRU131-FL-DC to meet all of these needs.
A great IoT gateway needs the right processor, and the IRU131 runs on the RISC-based NXP i.MX 6 UL. It offers plenty of processing performance without consuming too much power. The gateway supports a LAN port, RS-232/422/485 serial port, digital input/output channels, and dual wireless sockets. Designed for remote control and monitoring, it performs its functions autonomously. It also supports Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, and LoRa wireless protocols (modules sold separately).
Despite the wide range of traffic support, the gateway isn’t soft. It’s entirely fanless, but it can handle serious heat. It’s rated to operate nominally between -40° and 70°C. The compact, heavy-duty steel and aluminum enclosure with DIN-rail mounting fits nicely in a small control cabinet. It handles substantial abuse, enabling you to set it up and forget about it.
The IRU131 is ideal for many IoT applications, but it can’t do such a big job alone. If you want the rest of your network hardware to match this quality, discuss it with one of our expert technicians. We’ll help you find every device you need without driving your budget out of bounds.
