The industrial-grade CopperLink CL1212E from Patton Electronics combines data streams from up to four network devices onto a Line interface, which may be an unshielded twisted pair (UTP) or coax cable. A CL1212E pair delivers IP traffic over the Line interface to 1.8 miles (3 km) away - well beyond the standard 328-foot (100-meter) Ethernet distance limitation. A built-in 2-port Fast Ethernet switch offers simultaneous connections to remote end devices such as a computer, sensors, and video cameras - all over a single cable.
The CL1212E eliminates bandwidth constraints commonly experienced with other copper-based transmission technologies. The twisted pair or coax Line interface between two CL1212E units can achieve line rates up to 168 Mbps. Select from multiple line rates. It can reuse existing twisted pair lines previously deployed in legacy applications such as alarm circuits, E1/T1 circuits, RS-232/422/485 control, CCTV, and CATV. Newer Cat 5e, Cat 6, and Cat 7 cabling standards are also supported. Select from an RJ45 or terminal block connection. The CL1100E includes Transparent LAN Bridging that passes higher layer protocols such as tagged and untagged 802.1Q VLAN packets and WMV, MPEG-4, and MJPEG video compression schemes.
