RS-232 has been a standard means of transmitting low-speed data for decades. However, how would you connect serial equipment to a state-of-the-art system lacking a serial port? One way is to convert the RS-232 serial stream to USB. The UTS-1461A-SI from Antaira Technologies is a simple adapter designed to connect older RS-232 equipment to a standard USB port. It's nearly identical to the UTS-1110A expect it offers isolation and surge protection to withstand electrically noisy environments. The 8-foot cable features a USB type B connector at one end and signal conversion electronics with DB-9 connector at the other. A software wizard installs effortlessly on your computer or laptop.
