The Proxim Edge MP-1045 high-performance radio is part of the Proxim PNP (Point-to-Point) Edge 1000 Series, a family of radios that provide reliable and secure wireless connectivity for mission-critical applications such as public safety, ITS, video surveillance, and smart-city applications. It's an excellent choice as a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint endpoint, multipoint CPE, or multipoint base station.

The Edge MP-1045 is built with advanced radio technology that enables it to operate in challenging environments, including high interference, severe weather conditions, and long distances. It delivers data rates of up to 100 Mbps, making it ideal for high-bandwidth networks. In addition, the Edge Multipoint MP-1045 provides the flexibility of operation in the 4.9 GHz Public Safety and 5.2 and 5.8 GHz UNII bands over 5, 10, 20, and 40 MHz channel sizes for operation in noisy environments. It’s similar to the Edge MP-1015, which features one 5 GHz radio and 4x4 MIMO antennas.

One of the critical features of the MP-1045 is its advanced security capabilities. It supports AES-256 encryption and 802.1X authentication, which provide high data privacy and protection against unauthorized access. Additionally, it supports VLAN tagging and QoS (Quality of Service) for efficient network management and optimization, committed interface rates, latency controls, IGMP snooping, and native multicast support, allowing granular service level management and the best video performance available in this product class. AES 128 encryption with Radius-based authentication and secure management through SSL/ TLS1.2, SSH, and SNMPv3. Utilizing Proxim’s highly efficient Wireless Outdoor Router Protocol (WORP), it enables the most efficient wireless broadband access possible in a packet-based network.

The radio has a built-in 35-degree dual-polarity antenna that provides a high gain of up to 15 dBi, ensuring a robust and stable wireless connection. But it also includes connectors to mount external antennas for extended range. It supports multiple modes of operation, including bridge, router, and repeater modes, which make it highly versatile and easy to integrate into different network topologies. The MP-1045 also features an IP67-rated metal enclosure to ensure years of reliable service in harsh environments, including high winds, salt fog, and severe temperatures.
