Every network designer understands that antennas form the core of a mobile network. They must relay and maintain connections across a myriad of devices in variable circumstances. As challenging as that sounds, vehicle antennas have to be reliable in outdoor conditions that can be extremely harsh. That brings us to the rugged Panorama MAKO family of cellular multi-function antennas, which check all of the boxes.
The LGMM4-6-60 is LTE 4G/5G ready with coverage over the 617 to 960 MHz and 1710 to 6000 MHz cellular frequencies. It’s compatible with the newest Cat 18 LTE routers and modems. The LTE antennas are designed for 4x4 MIMO operation, but it’s possible to split these pairs of 2x2 MIMO for routers with two SIM cards configured for failover, i.e., only one SIM is active at a time. It is not intended for concurrent SIM card activity, as it lacks sufficient isolation between the MIMO pairs. Along with four cellular antennas, the LGMM4-6-60 accepts GPS/GNSS signals. This 5-in-1 single antenna services high-speed connections across a wide range of network designs. It’s also power-efficient, capping at a 10 W needed power input.
Even with all of this advanced technology, this antenna is as close to indestructible as is possible. It operates safely between -40 and 80°C, making it tougher than most outdoor temperatures worldwide. It also has an IP69K rating. For those who don’t have your ingress ratings memorized, this is the highest rating, meaning it’s impervious to dust and handles water assaults up to and including steam-jet cleaning.
The antenna includes 1-foot RF cables; however, this length is often too short for most installations, particularly vehicles. So for longer cables, consider the LG-IN2444 antenna kit which includes this LGMM4-6-60 antenna and 5-meter long cables (one cable for each antenna element) terminating with SMA connectors.

When it comes to reliable performance that won’t balk in challenging environments, it’s hard to beat the Panorama MAKO LGMM4-6-60. Then again, a network is only as strong as its weakest link.
