The PI045A Serial to Parallel Converter V plugs directly into the DB9 serial port of a computer. The converter’s other side connects to a parallel printer via an integral Centronics cable. It operates at serial data rates up to 38.4 kbps, and it receives its power from the RS-232 interface. The converter automatically detects whether the interface is serial or parallel. It then orients itself for serial-to-parallel or parallel-to-serial conversion. Other parameters - speed, flow-control method, parity, and word length - are set by externally accessible DIP switches. A single LED indicator monitors five modes including link status.
