The CL050A-R3 RS-232 to Current Loop Interface Converter is a bidirectional, self-contained unit that enables you to interconnect a digital 20/30/60-mA unipolar Current Loop interface to an RS-232 interface. The converter cannot be used with an analog Current Loop (4 to 20 mA) or bipolar Current Loop. This Active/Passive Current Loop Interface Converter uses AC power and acts either as an active or passive device on the Current Loop. As an active device, this converter supplies 20-, 30-, or 60-mA loop current at 18 VDC for operation. As a passive device, this converter will not supply loop current, but will operate with 20-, 30-, or 60-mA unipolar current at up to 30 VDC.
Optical isolators in both the Transmit and Receive loops keep out electrical interference. With front-panel LEDs you always know the status of your data. The easy-to-use self-test feature checks the converter's internal circuitry.Connect this converter to either a modem or mux. Just flip the switch to attach a terminal or computer. Your RS-232 devices are protected from dangerous transients too.
